Chapter Chatter: Jose Maria Amador Chapter Hosts Yearly Student Awards Ceremony

The Pleasanton based José Maria Amador Chapter held its annual student awards ceremony on March 13, 2022. Eleven local students were recognized for taking part in the following 2021 programs: Constitution Week Poster Contest, DAR Good Citizen, and the American History Essay Contest – “The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier”. Additionally, one local student won at the District level for DAR Good Citizen and another student won at the District, California State, and Southwest Division level for their Constitution Week Poster Contest entry.

JMADAR presented certificates, pins (in some cases), and scholarship monies to students in an in person COVID friendly ceremony. Students were able to get a professional picture taken by Bella Luna Photography Studios and then pick up their prize packets and their monies. Dignitaries attending the event included Karla Brown, Mayor of the City of Pleasanton, and Derek Brown, Inspector General, National Society Sons of the American Revolution. Family members, school representatives and local political leaders attended and congratulated the winners. The Mayors of Dublin, San Ramon and Pleasanton sent certificates as did the California State Legislature and Senate and the United States Congress.
