State Regent’s Message – May 2022

Greetings Daughters!

April was a whirlwind month as this State Regent traveled to State Conferences in Maine, Utah and Oklahoma, attended Chapter meetings, prepared video greetings for the Sacramento Chapter’s 100th Anniversary and attended the Chico Chapter’s 100th Anniversary. It was fascinating to attend the Conferences of my fellow State Regents, each one unique in how they celebrate the accomplishments of their chapters and State Societies. Daughters all across the country are definitely united in their love of God, Home and Country and have been successful in carrying on the work of our Society
despite facing the headwinds of the pandemic. They too, were eager to hear about California Daughters and it was an honor to represent our members at these events. Watch for Facebook posts this week on the Utah and Oklahoma Conferences – posts on the Maine Conference were made earlier.

Spring Councils, North & South are upon us and this Regent is very excited to hear the plans of the incoming Maas administration. I hope that you are too and will attend the Councils to show your support of the incoming administration and the induction of your District boards. Many first timers were welcomed at State Conference in March ! Wouldn’t it be great to do the same at May Councils??? We are blessed that our State Society has such a smooth transition process and so many capable Daughters willing to serve in leadership positions at all levels. May also brings the induction of new Chapter leaders and this Regent looks forward to participating in many of these this month. Inducting new leaders is another favorite activity for me. With new leaders come fresh ideas, an important aspect of our Society in regard to attracting new members and remaining relevant in an ever changing world.

June will be here before we know it, and with it the final events of the Broderick administration. Registration for the “Kick Off to Congress” BBQ on June 4th at our HQ in Glendora is on the CSSDAR Members website in the Webstore. This will be a fun afternoon as we celebrate the out-going administration and welcome the new! Friendship, great food, music and dancing to the sounds of City Beat – who could ask for more!!!

Save the date of June 12th as we will dedicate a marker in honor of Revolutionary War patriot Ignacio Vicente F. Vallejo at the Historic Royal Presidio Chapel of Monterey in Monterey County. Watch for final details from State Historian Sherrie Stein.

Continental Congress is right around the corner and is looking to be a blow out celebration! If able to attend in person, please do- it is the experience of a life time and one you will not soon forget!! Registration is simple on the NSDAR members website. Remember, each member attending must register themselves. This Regent can’t wait to see our Daughters in DC!! Please be sure to register for the California Congressional Tea on Tuesday, June 28th. Tea Chairs Elizabeth Julian and Dawn Witherspoon, along with this Regent, have a beautiful afternoon of friendship and fellowship planned.

There is so much to do as we come skidding in to the finish line!

With much DAR love and appreciation for all that you do and all that you are,
Susan
