State Regent’s Message: March 2022

Greetings Daughters! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Final preparations are underway for an exciting State Conference and the countdown to our Opening Night Celebration has begun! This State Regent is positively overjoyed to welcome our California Daughters, prospective members and guests back in person to the Irvine Marriott for the 114th CSSDAR State Conference “Celebrating our Patriot Heritage” March 17-20th. If registration numbers are any clue we are looking at a grand celebration!!! If you haven’t registered yet, you have until March 4th on the webstore. Don’t procrastinate!! You won’t want to miss it!!

Watch for the introduction of the “Conference Heartbeat” – your one stop Conference newsletter for all of the daily happenings. Each day we will shine a spotlight on events, schedules, bios of our visiting guests, committees, comments from attendees and fun photos. The “Conference Heartbeat” will be posted on Facebook and on the California Members Website. We want to connect with those who are unable to join us in person and share the essence of what makes Conference such a special mix of business and fellowship.

Call all quilters! The American Heritage Committee has announced the launch of the America 250! Quilt Project. All states, Units Overseas, Mexico and France will collaborate to create a quilt which will be displayed at National HQ and at America 250! celebrations. Each chapter will have the opportunity to design a quilt block which coordinates with the theme and tells the history of our state and what was occurring in our area during the time of the Revolution. Watch for the Announcement from our State Chair Deborah McMenamin with all of the instructions and deadlines.

Have you been participating in the Josh Taylor genealogy series webinars? Registration is available on the CSSDAR members webstore. If you have missed any, they are still available on the webstore for 30 days after the original date. Josh is an amazing speaker and these webinars are full of information!!

This is an exciting time, as we move forward meeting in person again! Nominating committees are being formed and members are being asked to step into leadership positions at chapter and District levels. Do you have skills and talents that you wish to share? Don’t be hesitant if asked – there are many Daughters willing to help and mentor you! Saying Yes to leadership positions within your chapters, committees and Districts is a wonderful way to share your ideas, learn more about DAR and meet new friends. The new Committee Leadership Course located on the NSDAR Members website is a great way to start!

So much to do and not a minute to waste!! Let’s go ladies!!!

With much DAR love and appreciation for all that you do and all that you are,

Susan
