State Regent’s Message – March 2014

Dear California Daughters,

It was a pleasure to travel to the February National Board of Management (NBOM) meeting with State Vice Regent Carol Jackson, who serves as chair of the NSDAR Finance Committee. The board meeting was filled with positive energy and exciting information.  Due to the work of members and chapters all over the world, 13,906 applications have been approved this year – breaking the record set in 1921!  Our membership worldwide as of the February meeting is 177,049.  The DAR Magazine hit an all time high for subscriptions (45,919).  The President General’s goal to document one million hours of volunteer service during this first year of her term has had to be revised due to overwhelming numbers. The week of the NBOM, the ticker had already hit 3,200,000 plus hours just for this first year.  The new goal is ten million hours total for the President General’s three-year term.  We all agreed we can easily do that and probably much more!  Many thanks to all California members who have logged their hours in the system this year to Celebrate America!

As you know, the 106th State Conference is fast approaching.  An informative and fun conference has been planned. The State Board of Directors looks forward to being with all members who are attending the conference, and to hearing reports of all of the accomplishments of chapters and committees.  We congratulate you for all of your dedication and hard work this past year!

Bee Inspired and Take Flight!

Debbie
