State Regent’s Message – January 2022

Happy New Year Daughters!

2021 has literally flown by, especially the latter part of the year, and 2022 is upon us with the promise of new DAR adventures ! I don’t know about you, but this Regent always looks forward to that fresh promise of the coming year and the chance to begin anew. Hopefully, all took some time to refresh over the holidays and to spend much needed time with loved ones. While the pandemic continues to influence our activities, this latest variation, with its milder symptoms and shorter duration gives me hope that we are gradually seeing it fade to the background of our lives.

Capping the end of the year, it was a blessing to see you all and again to hear your laughter and joy at being together again at the Victorian Christmas Tea at our HQ in Glendora. A very special thank you to HQ Events Chair Maria Fredendall and HQ Chair Kathy Witt and her Committee for all their work to making this a very special day! The patriotic Christmas tree and the State Regent’s tree were just perfect! You will want to visit HQ to see our new America 250 Patriot Marker and Patriot Garden dedicated during the Tea. Thank you to America 250 Co-Chairs Rebecca Malmo and Penny Sander for their work on this and for also being instrumental in the recent announcement of AB 1600, a bill just brought to the CA legislature on Jan 4th to establish a State America 250 Commission!

Front and center for 2022, in this State Regent’s thoughts and plans, is our upcoming 114th State Conference at the Irvine Marriott March 17-20th. . We are planning a full, in person State Conference with President General, Denise Doring VanBuren joining us for a portion of it. Watch for the Call to Conference coming out shortly with all of the details and make plans to attend. We are looking forward to a wonderful event with time to recognize and celebrate achievements, essay award winners and service!

Chapter Regents are now in the throes of the CMR documenting all of the activities and service of the past year. As I have traveled to your Chapters and Districts, whether in person or virtually, I continue to be inspired by all that you are accomplishing in your communities for God, Home & Country. Be sure to document these activities in as many areas as you can on your CMR’s and be sure to document your Service to America Hours so that we can make that 1,000,000+ hours mark – this Regent knows you are doing the work!!!

I leave you this month with the inspirational Flight 2022 Instructions from our President General’s Facebook post on Dec. 27th:

“Good morning and welcome to Flight 2022. We are prepared to take off into the New Year. Please make sure your Positive Attitude and Gratitude are secured and locked in the upright position. All self-destructive devices: pity, anger, selfishness, pride and resentment should be turned off at this time. All negativity, hurt and discouragement should be put away. Should you lose your Positive Attitude under pressure during this flight, reach up and pull down a prayer. Prayers will automatically be activated by Faith. Once your Faith is activated, you can assist other passengers who are of little faith. There will be NO BAGGAGE allowed on this flight. God, our Captain, has cleared us for take-off, Destination-GREATNESS!

Wishing you a New Year filled with new HOPE, new JOY and new BEGINNINGS! Stay Blessed! And welcome in 2022!”

This State Regent looks forward to seeing you all soon!

With much DAR love and appreciation, our Flight 2022 is “Wheels up” !
