Sacramento Chapter Honors NSDAR Conservation Award Recipient

Sacramento Regent Jan Weidenbach, Sara Myers, Conservation Committee Vice Chair Barbara Leary, and Conservation Committee Chair Barbara Halpin

On Saturday, March 16,  the Sacramento Chapter awarded former Folsom City Council Member, Sara Myers, a Conservation Award in Recognition of Outstanding Achievement for Environmental Awareness, for her founding of the Friends of Folsom Parkways and commitment to preserving the Humbug Willow Creek Parkway. The parkway consists of trails and open space that extend throughout the City of Folsom.  Ms. Myers served on the Folsom City Council from 1988 to 1996, and according to former Mayor Robert Holderness, “As a City Council member, she led the effort to have the City government establish guidelines for the development of the land along the creeks; these guidelines became the basis for the parkway system we now have along Folsom’s creeks.”  Friends of Folsom Parkways, established in 1990, continues as a vital organization with Sara Myers continuing to serve on the Board of Directors.
