Chapter Chatter: Santa Margarita Chapter Enjoys Oak Lea Dedication at CSSDAR HQ in Glendora

Several members of the Santa Margarita chapter headed to CSSDAR Headquarters in Glendora for a special CA DAR event on June 1, 2019.

Chapter member and State Regent Adele Lancaster, joined by honorary state regents Carol Oakley Jackson and Beverly Roberson Moncrieff, completed a four and a half year journey. As we well remember, during Jackson’s administration the restoration of the large oak covered area by the headquarters house was begun.

The plan was to make an Oak Lea, an area where members could rest, visit and enjoy some tranquility. As happens in most projects, permits and plan changes abounded, carrying the project over into the Moncrieff administration. Full fruition finally came about in this first year of the Lancaster administration with the dedication by all three at a BBQ.

Lancaster, Jackson and Moncrieff enjoyed the BBQ in casual clothing and then changed to more appropriate attire for the formal dedication. Jackson and Moncrieff topped it all off with handfuls of mulch to the delight of those in attendance.

Over 150 Daughters and guests enjoyed good food, good music, good company and a relaxing stroll through the Oak Lea.
