Chapter Chatter: San Fernando Valley Chapter Shares the Love on Valentines Day

The Daughters of the San Fernando Valley Chapter wanted to bring a few smiles to our neighboring senior citizen health care communities. We heard about this event from a friend back east last year, it was named it Operation Valentine, so that was our plan, west coast style!

The call went out to the chapter members: Who would like to make valentines? Our request to members was simple – share some love! The cards or notes could be creative, store bought or simple notes. We wrote, “thinking of you, have a great day, best wishes, sending hugs” and so much more. Last year, on our first try, we made over 200 cards and notes for three locations. This year we had almost 600 Valentines for seven locations! Wow, Terrific!

We, too, were inspired as we brought smiles, thanks, and gratitude to the patients, staff and residents of these facilities. Some special thank you notes were made for the staff members and we requested them to be posted in their office, lunch room or where any of the staff could easily see them. The valentines were warmly received at each location, and coordinators were grateful for the bit of love that was shared.

Happy Valentines Day!
