Chapter Chatter: Charlotte Parkhurst Chapter’s Helping Hands

It didn’t take long for the destructive flames of the Caldor Fire to ravage the forests of El Dorado County before members of the newly formed Charlotte Parkhurst chapter volunteered to help their neighbors.

Chapter Regent Carol Ann Nolan, Kimm Richwine and Sue Mackin served breakfast at the evacuation center at Placerville’s Bayside Church where evacuees from Happy Valley, Grizzly Flats and Pollock Pines were staying in RV’s and tents. The evacuees were feeling understandably lost and emotionally shaken by this whole ordeal, so in addition to serving food, words of comfort from DAR members, the pastor and other staff from Bayside Church provided emotional support. The church also had a supply area set up for people to come and take whatever they may need, even if they were not staying there.
