Chapter Chatter: Antelope Valley Celebrates 65th Anniversary

The Antelope Valley Chapter marked its 65th Anniversary February 19! We celebrated virtually with a power point presentation which shared a snapshot of accomplishments through our 65 years.

We were honored to be joined by our State Regent, Susan Broderick and our District XV Director Kristen Blackburn-Kaufman among other special guests. Many attendees decorated their background making the atmosphere very festive!

Defining the era when we first began was helped by images from 1956 including the price of a home which was $9550 and gas which was a whopping $.30 per gallon. Included was a picture of our Charter which cost us $20.00!

Eighteen original members started our Chapter. The names were read of all our Regents. Luckily the Chapter Yearbooks were available so we could list the Ladies by their first names instead of by their husband’s names as they were known by in the beginning!

Our Chapter has placed numerous markers in the Antelope Valley including the Poppy Reserve and we recently had a brick placed at our State House in Glendora commemorating our 65 years.

We highlighted many of the Organizations and Events that we have supported throughout the years. We also proudly displayed the Commendations received from the Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale. The presentation was recorded and will be viewable on our website.

We all enjoyed this wonderful commemoration to all the lovely Ladies who have dedicated so much to our Chapter!
