In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration would like to recognize a DAR Member from each state. This recognition would be for outstanding accomplishments by an individual DAR member in her efforts to honor and thank Vietnam War Veterans. This is a onetime award and cannot be received by anyone who received it in the past.
The Outstanding State Member Award (OSM) is not a DAR award, rather it is recognition from the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration. As Chair of Commemorative Events, I would love to see a California Daughter selected to represent the state for this prestigious award.
Have you or someone in your chapter done an outstanding job of honoring Vietnam Veterans? If so, please let your chapter Regent know you are filling out the OSM Form and add additional information if needed, and email to me at lauriesmotherman@gmail.com. The form is a downloadable PDF document.

The OSM from each state will be recognized at a special ceremony during NSDAR Continental Congress. If they are unable to attend, a representative for them should be there to receive this highly prestigious award.
There is still time for you to honor and recognize a chapter member that has done an outstanding job last year or for cumulate years honoring and thanking our Vietnam Veterans. The deadline for the National Vice Chair to receive the winning state entry is April 1, 2022, as such you will need to get your submission to me no later than March 18, 2022. The California state winner will be determined by State Regent Broderick and forwarded on for the National Award consideration.
