Announcement: Help Needed with Spanish Patriots Research

Dear California Daughters,

In an effort to increase genealogical and historical scholarship, this officer is looking to find out who has done research on potential Spanish Patriots for California.

California Daughters Dr. Mildred Murry, Dr. Pat Stanford, and past State Regent Anne Lampman spent time looking for “Donativo Lists”. We are looking for more of the records of Dr. Murry and Dr. Stanford. Some of Dr. Murry and Ann Lampman’s records have been located with Mr. Lampman, however there might be more.

In addition, we would like to collect a list of possible archives and repositories to explore any that might have Spanish Colonial records, specifically the “Donativo Lists”. On-line catalogs also need exploring. Has anyone researched the Santa Barbara Mission records, or other Mission records? The UC Berkeley Bancroft Library may also have records, but we are unclear where they may be or if DAR has explored them.

If records can be found at either of these locations (Santa Barbara Mission or Bancroft Library), the support of Daughters to review them in person (when that’s allowed) would be invaluable. Similarly, if we can find records at other missions or historic sites, Daughters willing to review them are needed. Would you be willing to help with that research?

Please contact this officer directly at: registrar@californiadar.org.

Your help is sincerely appreciated.
