Announcement: Americanism Medals & Writeable Chapter Certificates

The mission of the Americanism Committee is to work with chapters to promote, celebrate, and assist in developing citizenship and patriotism in their communities. During the Wright Administration, the committee’s focus will shift from naturalization and awards to civics, citizenship and patriotism.  You and your chapter may already be doing amazing Americanism Committee events and not realize it. There is a new writable certificate on the Americanism committee webpage for this purpose and chapters can make their own certificates as well. Here are some chapter ideas:

• What did you or your chapter do on Flag Day or on the 4th of July?

• Did you or your chapter participated in a Wreaths Across America Ceremony?

• What does your chapter do to encourage patriotism in your community?

• Have you ever attended a Naturalization Ceremony?

• Do you know someone who has recently attained United States Citizenship?

• Do you know someone in your local community who deserves recognition for amazing service?

• Are you familiar with the DAR Manual for Citizenship?

At the National level, the Americanism Committee administers the following awards:

DAR Medal of Honor
The DAR Medal of Honor is the highest award given to native-born United States citizens who have exhibited outstanding leadership, trustworthiness, patriotism and service in their local communities or to the nation.

DAR Americanism Medal
The DAR Americanism Medal is awarded to naturalized United States citizens who exhibit these same qualities, but who have also assisted others in their foreign-born communities.

Deadlines
Medal of Honor and Americanism Medal Award submissions are due to this State Chair by November 15, 2022, if a chapter would like a medal recipient considered for national recognition at Congress 2023.

Here is the link for the medal applications and writable certificate which is available after login:

I look forward to seeing all the great chapter work and the medal submissions.
