The Generosity of Anne Lampman

Anne Delano Donahue-Lampman

Honorary State Regent Anne Delano Donahue-Lampman was a member of Mission Viejo Chapter, and a forty-six year member of DAR.  She was a very active member and served in various chairmanships and offices including:

  • State Regent 2006-2008
  • State Vice Regent 2004-2006
  • State Recording Secretary 2002-2004
  • State Historian 2000-2002
  • Chapter Regent 1998-2000
  • Organizing Member Gabilan Chapter

On May 12, 2012, Anne lost her battle with cancer, leaving a noticeable void in our State organization. She was very creative; generous with her time, money, and advice; and was enthusiastic about actively participating on committees even after her tenure as state regent.

The State Society was surprised this month to receive word from the executor of Anne’s estate that she had provided for the State and National Societies in her will.  Anne left $50,000 to the State Headquarters Maintenance Fund, and $20,000 to the Junior Membership Trust Fund.

The Headquarters fund exists to help maintain our historic property in Glendora, California, and these funds have been received during a time when the State Society is studying a much needed preservation of the buildings on the property.  The Junior Membership Trust Fund will see its principal increase greatly, which we hope will increase the interest coming from the fund.  This interest helps two deserving Juniors travel to Washington, DC, for Continental Congress each year.

In addition, Anne provided for her beloved Mission Viejo Chapter, and she left a sizeable donation to the National Society.

We thank Anne for her enormous generosity, and most of all – we miss her dearly.
