State Regent’s Message – October 2013

Dear California Daughters –

This weekend, I had the opportunity to hear a beautiful sermon about the spirit of generosity. It made me think about the passionate women in our organization and brought to mind a quote by author Mitch Albom:

“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”

This certainly expresses the activities of our devoted DAR members! Giving from the heart of one’s time and talents, and those much needed monetary contributions, projects a true spirit of generosity on a scale that this officer has not experienced in any other organization to which she has belonged.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a diverse group of caring members in our organization who are so willing to use their precious resources and energy to practice the virtue of giving. In our DAR community, there is something every member can do to help achieve the Society’s goals of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. There are no activities or contributions that are too small. Everything you contribute is meaningful and when combined with the generosity of over 175,000 members worldwide, it becomes powerful!

Be Inspired and Take Flight!

Debbie
