State Regent’s Message: January 2023

Greetings, California Daughters!

Happy New Year! December was a busy month for all of us, but I hope you were able to spend time together with family and friends – have a bit of fun and enjoy the traditional treats and activities of the holiday season!

The annual CSSDAR Victorian Christmas Tea was held on December 10th at State Headquarters in Glendora – where we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the purchase of our “House Beautiful! For the first time since 2019, the Tea was elegantly poured in the dining room – from the special silver teapot – and all sorts of sandwiches, scones, cookies, and candies were arranged on the dining room table for our enjoyment! Outdoor seating was available for the 330 attendees! We even welcomed many Daughters from the North! It was a beautiful day – sunshine, with temperatures in the mid 60’s. Easy-ups and heaters were provided “just in case”, but the weather cooperated nicely! Valet parking was available, and Santa dropped by for photos. Donations gathered for Shepherd’s Pantry were much appreciated. Holiday music from John King on Keyboard, and the Glendora High School Choir created a very festive afternoon! Many thanks to Maria Fredendall and members of the State Headquarters Administrative Committee for organizing such a beautiful event!

On Saturday morning before the Tea, your State Officers marched in the Glendora Christmas Parade! Our connection to the community of Glendora is very strong! That afternoon, the Mayor and several City Council Members joined us for our Victorian Christmas Tea!

On December 12th, your State Regent was honored to join the Gold Trail Chapter – and other District II Daughters – in laying a Wreath at the State Capitol Building in Sacramento. The following weekend – December 17th – many of our California chapters participated in “Wreaths Across America” ceremonies at local cemeteries across the State. Wreaths were placed at Veterans’ graves to Remember them, Honor their service, and Teach the next generation that we live in the land of the free because of these brave men and women!

Your acts of Service throughout 2022 are so much appreciated! Please record all your good work in the CMR – the Chapter Master Report! This is your chapter’s chance to sparkle and shine! The CMR is due January 31st, so please help your chapter regent – during the month of January – to make it the best it can be!

Planning for State Conference – March 16-19, 2023 – is well underway! State Conference Co-Chairs Lisa Fox and Gayle Mooney are working diligently to make it a productive, enjoyable, and memorable event! Be sure to submit your Credential forms before February 1st so your chapter delegates will have a vote!

Let us carry the holiday spirit of Joy and Peace into the New Year as we continue to “Grow Together in Friendship and Service to God, Home, and Country”!

Thank you for your support!
