State Regent’s Message – December 2012

Dear California Daughters,

Over the last nine months, this officer has received numerous cards, notes, and emails of encouragement from members and chapters, as well as beautiful gifts, flowers, and other thoughtful items. Thank you so very much for your many kindnesses, including all the lovely invitations you’ve sent and the many considerations given when this officer attends your meetings. Your generous support of the State Regent’s honey bee research project is greatly appreciated, as well as your educating the public about the plight of bees.

One of the most heartfelt gifts this regent has received was an original article written by a member’s father. At the beginning of the term while attending a Martin Severance Chapter meeting, member Jolaine Lamb handed me an article about bees, written by her father, Rev. Percy Furgeson. To receive this family heirloom, given from the heart, was an amazing surprise. An edited version of this sweet article is printed  in this month’s California Clarion for members to read at their leisure, or for chapters to share as a National defense or conservation article.

The areticle can also be found by clicking on the following link –

To quote Rev. Furgeson, “The bees do most certainly add to the beautiful mystery of life. They have such a limited lifetime, but what they give is sweet and helpful to mankind…It is a marvelous and mysterious and beautiful world that God has given us – and I am certainly glad He gave us honeybees.”

This officer sends best wishes for a wonderful holiday season to all California Daughters.

Bee Inspired and Take Flight!

Debbie
