State Conference is Next Week!

Dear California Daughters:

Just a reminder that the 105th California DAR State Conference is next week, March 7-10, at the San Ramon Marriott. We look forward to seeing you there! Wouldn’t you like to share a shopping experience with the State Regent, President General, State Officers, and other DAR members? Well, you can, on March 7! There are only a few seats left on the luxury coach bus, which will depart from the San Ramon Marriott at 8:30 a.m., Thursday morning, for a short, half-hour ride to the new upscale Paragon Outlets in Livermore. The first stop will be the St. John Outlet store for a private event, open only to ladies riding the bus! When the other stores open at 10:00 a.m., you may shop wherever you wish, enjoy lunch on your own, then relax on the comfortable ride back to the hotel. This new outlet center is reasonable walking distance and has plenty of seating where you may stop and relax. The food court is large with several reasonably priced eateries. The bus will arrive back at the hotel following the shopping trip, at 2:00 p.m. Each participant will receive a bee shopping bag, too! The CSSDAR WebStore will still accept your pre-registration payment of $30.  Any questions may be directed to Sue Busenius, sbusenius@astound.net.

March 7 – Opening Night: Our special guest for Opening Night is NSDAR President General Merry Ann T. Wright, who will deliver the keynote address which will include an update and photographs of the Lay Light Project. Members and guests are welcome at the Opening Night session that begins at 7:00 p.m., preceded at 6:30 p.m. by a Jazz Concert performed by the San Ramon Valley High School Jazz Combo.

March 8 – Morning Business Session: Mrs.Wright will be speaking at the Friday morning business session, with a Q&A session following her talk. Questions may be written in advance on cards available at the Registration desk or at the House desk in the back of the meeting room. Due to the limited time for Q & A, please turn your questions to the House Committee desk at the back of the meeting room on Thursday night.

All meal events are open seating, with the exception of reserved Debutante family tables at the Celebration Dinner, Saturday night.

Friday, March 1 is the deadline for submitting written reports from State Chairmen, District Directors, and Chapter Regents. The report formatting guidelines are on the State Conference web page. Please e-mail report in WORD as an attachment to State Recording Secretary Midge Enke.

All District Directors are requested to submit a list of chapters reporting during State Conference to the State Regent and copy to the Protocol Chairman.

See you next week! Safe travels to San Ramon.
