Point Vicente Visits the Nethercutt Museum

On January 25, 2013, members and guests of the Point Vicente Chapter braved the wind and the rain, boarded a bus, and went to visit the marvelous Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, California.

The morning was spent touring a collection of 250 restored, museum-quality cars, from antique, vintage, classic, and post-war eras. Next was a docent-led tour of the collection founded by the family who owns Merle Norman Cosmetics. Included are four floors of classic cars in a recreated 1920’s era showroom, wall cases full of crystal figurines, hood ornaments, David Winter cottages, dolls, and coins in addition to music boxes and nickelodeons.

One floor, lovingly referred to as Cloud 99, had a magnificent Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, orchestrions, reproducing pianos and a lovely Louis XV-style dining room. The group was even treated to a concert by the Wurlitzer!

The day was complete with lunch at a local BBQ restaurant and the bus ride home.
