The state regent traveled to Washington, DC, to attend the NBM on October 6th. It was exciting to hear the Organizing Secretary General report on chapters confirmed at this meeting because our new Center of the Valley Chapter in Valley Center, California was on the list! This chapter is located in the San Diego area. Congratulations to Organizing Regent, Vickie Lunden, and all the new members of the chapter. We look forward to visiting with them at district and state meetings.
NBM voted to discontinue the sale of DAR Museum Exhibition fund pins effective December 31, 2012; rationale: The DAR Museum Exhibition Fund will be discontinued on that date.
The Standing Rules for the 122nd Continental Congress were adopted.
The FY 2013 budget was adopted, as well as the FY 2013 Chapter Achievement Form.
NBM meeting dates and upcoming Continental Congress dates were amended to avoid overlap with the huge Microsoft Convention that takes up nearly 6,600 hotel rooms in DC. The dates for the 2018 Congress were amended.
Members of the National Board of Management voted to reaffirm Standing Rules A.2 and A.3 of the Bylaws of the National Society with regard to its policy prohibiting “Circularization.” Please read the article in the California Clarion on this subject so you are aware of the updated information on this extremely important topic.
On the way home from Washington, the state regent went to Tamassee DAR School to attend the annual Founder’s Day celebration. She was accompanied on the trip by Advisory Committee member, Susan Montgomery. The state regent attended the Regent’s Council meeting, and both Susan and the state regent attended the Advisory Committee meeting. It was an honor to dedicate the donations and improvements made to California Pouch Cottage. An article about the visit with photographs will appear in California Chatter.
