Linares Chapter Presents JROTC Scholarship

JROTC Scholarship winner Jennifer Doan

On June 7, 2012, Linares Chapter presented a check for $500.00 to Cadet Commander Jennifer Doan of Patrick Henry High School, San Diego. Jennifer was chosen to receive the Linares Chapter ROTC Merit Award as the outstanding cadet from San Diego high schools JROTC program. Linares supports seven schools with bronze medal awards and certificates each year. Joan Carter and Susan Zimmer, the chapter’s JROTC Co-Chairmen, awarded medals to cadets at the following schools: Crawford, Hoover, Kearny, Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Sweetwater, and San Ysidro. Six of the cadets and their instructors also attended the luncheon. District XIV Director Beverlee Stuart-Borok explained the JROTC medals program sponsored by the National Defense Committee and authorized by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in 1967.  The program recognizes and rewards student cadets of outstanding ability and achievement who have demonstrated loyalty, dependability, good character, and patriotism.
