Members of the Santa Lucia and Gabilan Chapters met recently at the First Mayor’s House in Salinas. Guests included members of the local chapter of SAR. Ken Hess, a pioneer in the field of online genealogical/family search software, presented a fascinating presentation on the genesis of the movement. Mr. Hess described how discovering that people were using his organizational chart software to create family trees spurred the idea of creating Family Tree Maker, which led to a whole new world in the area of family history research and organization.
