On Wednesday, April 26, San Clemente Island members gathered at Mission San Juan Capistrano for a very special private event. We enjoyed a catered lunch in the Soldiers’ Barracks and a program by our own Shirley Sauvageau entitled, “The California Missions and the Revolution.” The Mission staff brought the two DAR plaques out of the archives for us to see. Docent Shirley then took us on a guided tour of the mission grounds and shared her knowledge and many wonderful stories about the history of the Mission. It was a beautiful day with everything in bloom and we so appreciated Shirley’s help in planning this special event.
