Chapter Chatter: Rincon del Diablo Chapter Helps Native Women’s Coalition

It’s always inspiring to see the myriad of ways in which the DAR participates in volunteer service. This Spring, the Rincon del Diablo Chapter in Escondido rose to the occasion once again. We were honored to deliver a collection of much needed new bedding, kitchen cookware, oven mitts, hand towels, and toiletries, all donated by Rincon del Diablo Daughters, to the Strong Hearted Native Women’s Coalition. Additionally, we provided Walmart gift cards which will be distributed to the residents of Kiicha House for their basic personal needs.

Our chapter has assisted the coalition since 2017 by helping to provide supplies and furnishings for Kiicha House, a shelter for displaced women and children, hidden in an undisclosed location in North San Diego County. The Strong Hearted Native Women’s Coalition is a tribal organization which brings awareness of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking and human trafficking with focus on the Native American community. The program offers a variety of client services including crisis intervention, counseling, emergency food and clothing, and legal advocacy.
