The Rincon del Diablo Chapter awarded the prestigious DAR Bronze ROTC Medal to two San Diego County high school cadets. The medals, along with award certificates and scholarship checks, were presented to Cadet Lieutenant Commander Lillian Jared, a Senior at Ramona High School in Ramona, and Cadet Lieutenant Gracie Crowley, a Junior at Orange Glen High School in Escondido. We are so proud of these young ladies, both of whom are destined to be tomorrow’s military leaders.

The NSDAR Bronze medal is presented to an ROTC student who demonstrates academic excellence, dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership, and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of the Reserve Officers Training Corps. For over fifty years, the DAR has awarded ROTC medals in recognition of the program that offers a solid source of trained officers for our armed forces.

Commander Rick Jordan, Senior Naval Science Instructor at Ramona High School stated, “Cadet Jared is the unit Commanding Officer. It was a difficult year since the opportunities for community service were rare, but Cadet Jared rose to the occasion. Service runs in the family, as her proud mother is an active Army reservist.”
Lieutenant Commander Freddie Amos, Senior Naval Science Instructor at Orange Glen High School, said, “As the unit’s Executive Officer, Cadet Crowley is a dedicated and responsible leader who embodies all of the characteristics needed for success. She has performed tremendously in her studies and in support of the Navy JROTC unit.”
Cadet Jared and Cadet Crowley both plan to join the United States Navy.
