Chapter Chatter: Lake Tahoe Chapter Daughters Strut Their Stuff!

Lake Tahoe Chapter members marched in the third annual South Lake Tahoe 4th of July Parade.  The chapter – organized last February – used the parade to further its presence  in the Lake Tahoe Basin.  Members not only wore costumes and patriotic colors, many also donned “Votes for Women” sashes, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment.  Signs highlighting DAR service were carried by chapter participants along with a Lake Tahoe Chapter banner.  The parade route was approximately two miles long, from the intersection of Ski Run Blvd. and Lake Tahoe Blvd. to Bijou Park on Al Tahoe Blvd.  Comments along the route were very favorable:

“Look….it’s the DAR!
“Way to go, ladies!”
“Thank you for what you are doing for the cemetery (the historic Al Tahoe Cemetery).”
“I’m SAR and this is terrific!”
“Great costumes!”

Lake Tahoe Chapter will definitely participate in next year’s parade.  After all, if there is one group that should be involved in a 4th of July celebration, it’s the DAR!
