Chapter Chatter: Kaweah Chapter Celebrates Constitution Week for 60 Continuous Years!

kaweah-conwk-2016Kaweah Chapter held its 60th Annual Constitution Week Luncheon on September 20th, in Visalia, California.  Newly elected Regent, Andrea McDonald, chaired the well-attended event that was arranged by Constitution Week Chair, Honorary President General Linda Calvin.  A beautiful and informative Constitution Week display greeted guests as they entered the banquet room, with patriotic literature to take home. The Colors were presented by the Dinuba High School NJROTC Color Guard. Kaweah Chapter has had a relationship with the unit since its establishment in 1996.  The chapter was honored to have local VIP guests in attendance.  The Mayor of Visalia read a proclamation from the city.  The Tulare County Board of Supervisors, sent a representative who presented a proclamation.  The guest speaker for the event was Phil Cline, retired Tulare County District Attorney. He served in this capacity for over 20 years, and currently teaches Constitutional law courses at College of the Sequoias in Visalia.  Mr. Cline’s talk was fascinating, delving into how Supreme Court decisions are made and how they affect us.  His PowerPoint presentation used current newspaper headlines to show how media distorts Supreme Court decisions.  The speaker’s passion about at the Constitution and the information he presented held the audience’s attention, and many guests stated they would have liked to have heard much more.  Kaweah Chapter sincerely thanks Mrs. Calvin for chairing this event, a chairmanship she has held many times in the past. Linda’s expertise made for an outstanding event!
