Chapter Chatter: Fresno-Yosemite Chapter Good Citizens Tea

On February 16, 2019, Fresno-Yosemite Chapter Daughters hosted our annual Good Citizens tea, recognizing 28 high school seniors who have demonstrated the qualities of a Good Citizen. These traits are dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Each of our participants received a DAR Good Citizen pin, a certificate, and a monetary award, as well as certificates from local elected officials. Our top honoree was Mason Kinsey from Clovis West High School in Fresno, CA, and he was also the recipient of a $300 scholarship.

We also recognized our two American History essay winners and the winner of the Christopher Columbus essay. These three students won at the local level and went on to compete at the state competition. Our CAR chapter president, seventh-grader Dominic Lerandeau, was the winner in his age group. We are very proud of him and his success.

Over 160 people attended the tea, including members, parents, students, and judges, and we are pleased with the turnout. Thanks to everyone who participated.
