Chapter Chatter: El Dorado Chapter Honors Senior Citizen

The El Dorado Chapter recently honored Dorothy E. Robbins for her contributions. At 101 years old, Mrs. Robbins has distinguished herself in many ways, but particularly through her research-based teaching the history of the founding of America; her books, lesson plans and resources for teachers and parents; and for her prose, poetry and numerous articles. In addition, Mrs. Robbins has been active in her church and involved in politics for years. She shares with pride that a number of her students now have careers in education and in the political arena.

A delightful woman, with an easy smile and a twinkle in her eye, it is clear that Mrs. Robbins has a zest for living and engaging with others. She is the proud matriarch of 8 children, 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a great great grandson who was born last October. When asked about her longevity, her daughter describes that as an RN, Mrs. Robbins put her nutritional training to work by eating healthy food, getting eight hours of sleep, keeping both physically and mentally active, and her deep faith.

The presentation of the Community Service and Leadership Award by the El Dorado Chapter was made by Chapter Regent Ann Chambers along with Chapter members Carol Bly, Carole Katzmann and Mrs. Robbins’ daughter, Doris Quintard. It was the chapter’s honor to recognize Mrs. Doris Robbins for her many achievements, and to be able to spend time getting to know her and sharing how inspiring she has been for others.

L to R: Carol Bly, Regent Ann Chambers, Mrs. Dorothy Robbins, Carole Katzmann, and daughter Doris Quintard
