Chapter Chatter: Early Aurantia Daughters Honored

On October 23, 2021, Aurantia Chapter celebrated the lives of six Aurantia early daughters by marking the headstones with DAR Insignias. Many of the ladies were officers such as Regent, Treasurer, and two were Charter members. One lady was a Mayflower descendant, and another was a CSSDAR Treasurer.

The headstones are located at Evergreen Memorial Historical Cemetery, Riverside, CA. Two Boy Scout troops assisted Aurantia with presentation of Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance. Several of the Scouts were able to interview Veterans required for Merit Badges.

The dedication ceremony was attended by CSSDAR Officers, Evergreen Cemetery Board Members, District XI Assistant Director, and one family descendant. The dedication ceremony was conducted by Regent Deborah Hill, Chapter Chaplin Judith Dillard, and CSSDAR Chaplin Christine McMahan. Following the ceremony, guests were invited to visit each gravesite where a brief biography was provided about each Lady. Light refreshments were serviced.
