Announcement: Mail Call!

All military personnel look forward to hearing this phrase when they are deployed.

One of our State Regent’s Projects is the Honor Flight program, which we will be learning more about at the Southern and Northern Council meetings. But did you also know that on the return flights home, these veterans are given packages filled with gratitude via cards, letters, drawings etc. thanking them for their service and willingness to defend our country. Ladies, here is where you can sharpen your pencils or break out your favorite writing pen. We will be collecting mail for the Honor Flight at the council meetings! We want to show these veterans what they mean to the California Daughters, by sending them all a big package of our thankfulness.

How to participate- There are one of two ways that you can help with this project. The first being as follows:

There are a variety of ways to enjoy this project by incorporating others. For example:

  • Writing cards or letters at home and bring them with you to Fall Council.
  • Include the kids, have a writing party and everyone can bring a variety of items to make cards and letters.
  • Get the neighborhood involved and sit at the picnic tables in the backyard crafting cards etc.
  • Make it a family night and make some cards
  • Get the scouting troops involved.
  • Teachers- this would also make a great arts and crafts project for your student

A second example is to come to the council meetings. We will have cards there for you to sign and leave your messages as you listen to the Honor Flight speakers.

All this mail will then be hand delivered to the Honor Flight representatives to take back with them, where it will then be given to the veterans on the next Honor Flight.

Ladies, let us show our veterans how much they mean to the California Daughters. Let us send them each a large package of our gratitude for defending what we love so much!
