Announcement: Highlighting Variety of Patriot Ancestors

As you share Patriot information on your public chapter Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, newsletters, bookmarks, book donations, setting up Veterans Day displays, reading in classrooms and library story time, and other ways you communicate, please highlight the diversity of people it took to win the American Revolution including:

James Lafayette, a slave who spied for Washington (book donation: “A Spy Called James” by Anne Rockwell).

“Bernardo Galvez” (books in Spanish and English by Guillermo Fesser).

Haym Solomon (“Liberty’s Son” by Shirley Pilgrim)

“American Patriot” by Susan Rubin.

Native Americans (“Forgotten Allies” by Joseph Glatthaar).

Women (“Her Name was Mary Katherine” by Ella Schwartz).

These are wonderful ways to learn about the Revolutionary War and to alert our community about potential Patriot lines they may not realize qualifies them for DAR membership!
