Announcement: DAR Hindman Settlement School

Hindman and the surrounding area has been hit hard, but this community is pulling together, Hindman has opened themselves to the community as a safe place for shelter and hot meals. They are doing this without power, gas or water. The power of community at work. Although the staff and families of the Hindman Settlement School are safe, there has been tragic loss of life in Eastern Kentucky and to those they are close to. All will be grieving for the tremendous losses within their communities.

They will need US in the long haul. There is a huge push for help in the first weeks, but it is the months following that people forget the misery is still happening and turn to new things.

If a chapter wants to assist, but feels incapable at this time, Hindman will still need help in September and December. This is NOT going away.

Will Anderson, Executive Director and Josh Mullins, Senior Director, have been updating their needs list as it changes, Needs change as all move into recovery. There will always be needs! Listed below is the Link.

To streamline the impact for your donations, A link is provided below for your convenience. At this time the State wants individuals, chapters and Districts to promote donations directly to the link. This efficiency will avoid a central fund and red tape that could slow down the distribution.
