Announcement: Constitution Week Poster Contest for 2021

Calling all California Daughters: now that we have experienced our first “Constitution Week” during the pandemic and have attended our first Virtual Fall Council, it is time to concentrate on finding and encouraging those creative young artists to submit entries for the 2021 Constitution Week Poster Contest! Debbie Janes of the Jose Maria Amador Chapter has already sent me a “sampling” of the entries they have received so far and they are most promising.

This National Contest open to anyone of any age: traditionally National has chosen artwork submitted by younger artists; however all who feel “the call” to celebrate our Constitution with a poster submission are most welcome! Please first consult the entry form and rules from the National Committee which is available to download from the following link:

Constitution Week Poster Contest and Entry Form

Like last year, we again have permission from our State Regent to create our own Poster Contest Award Categories for state recognition. Prize certificates and ribbons will be awarded for First, Second, Third Places plus Honorable Mention in the following categories:

5-9 year olds; 10-12 year olds; 13-17 year olds; 18 and above

From this group will be chosen a First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention winner for the official state awards as outlined by National with the First Place entry going to Division for the national competition. All prize winning posters will be displayed at the State Conference next March.

Please make certain the entry form is filled out completely for each artist, and a parent’s signature is affixed for the artists under 18. Non-DAR members must be sponsored by a chapter. So, daughters, armed with enthusiasm, go out there and bring those entries in!

Submission deadline for entries to this State Chair is January 15, 2021. Entries should be sent to:
