Dear California Daughters, 
Didn’t we have a great time together at Southern and Northern Fall Councils? You exceeded our greatest expectations by participating in workshops, making your pledge for Team Awesome and wearing your pins proudly, donning your butterfly wings and dancing the night away. The enthusiasm you displayed with our guest speakers, as we learned together about establishing monarch butterfly habitats, was so amazing it tempted a new butterfly to emerge from its chrysalis to see what all the excitement was about. Thank you all for sharing these wonderful week-ends with us.
Constitution We
ek is over and once again our Daughters celebrated in style—you marched in parades, handed out constitutions, rang bells, visited schools, gathered proclamations, and reminded our communities, one more time, of what makes ours the greatest country on earth. Fortunately it doesn’t end when the week ends… the celebration goes on all year as we thank God for those brave patriots who defend our liberties every day.
This regent leaves next week for the National Board of Management in Washington DC, and then joins the Schools Tour as we travel to five of our six schools .(Kate Duncan Smith and Tamassee DAR Schools, and Berry College, and Crossnore, and Hindman Settlement DAR approved Schools. All of these schools were begun in rural and disadvantaged areas where public education was not accessible. The mission of these schools is to provide traditional values and educational skills to the students in order to help them reach their full potential in life. The California Society provides support to Pouch Cottage at Tamassee School in Tamassee, South Carolina, where six young girls live on campus while going to school. While there I’ll be taking a photo of a milkweed plant planted at the Log Cabin by one of our California chapter regents — and presenting a children’s book on a worthy California woman architect—“Julia Morgan Built a Castle.”
