Chapter Chatter: Del Norte Chapter Hosts Paper Party in Crescent City

Del Norte chapter hosted a Paper Party on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5, 2019, in Crescent City, attended by 21 Daughters and prospectives from throughout California. The Paper Party is the New Horizons Capstone Project of Cori Higgins, Del Norte Chapter Vice Regent/Registrar, who chaired the event, and is the first held in the farthest north of the state. The CSSDAR Volunteer Genealogists were Corky Peterson, Beverly Hall and Judy Harless.

The sessions at Ocean View Inn were conveniently arranged for equipment and mobility. To keep up the energy of all those attending, snacks and beverages were readily available throughout the meetings. Delicious lunches were served by Lesina Catering.

The VeeGees (Volunteer Genealogists) worked diligently from 9:00AM to 4:00PM each day, and at the end of the Paper Party, four prospectives had proven their patriot lineage. Several Daughters were able to complete supplementals by finding unknown ancestors. With the help of the VeeGees, attendees made progress in solving the problem areas of their lineage search. The Daughters made the most of this opportunity to gain from the knowledge and assistance of the Volunteer Genealogists.

After the sessions, Daughters enjoyed the Pacific Ocean shoreline and the majestic redwoods. A special item of interest at Jedediah Smith State Park was the NSDAR 1949 Tribute Grove Monument honoring World War II Military.

A successful Paper Party with kudos to Del Norte Chapter, Chairman Cori Higgings, and a special “shout-out” to the CSSDAR Volunteer Genealogists.
