State Headquarters Preservation Update

State Headquarters before restoration.

State Headquarters before restoration.

State Headquarters is undergoing restoration! Get the very latest information about the California State Headquarters Preservation Project  on its own web page on the CSSDAR Members’ website, under Committees. The new web page will allow us to regularly update members on the progress of this vital project.  Photos are also included! Information from the inception of the project in June 2014 (Phase 1) through August 27 is included.  You will want to read about the termite damage and roof emergency that has resulted in the State Board’s approval of Phase 2.

Benefactors Are Needed! Benefactors are encouraged to help with this huge project designed to protect our investment. We are planning to list benefactors on a donor wall at headquarters once the project is completed. The state board has voted to have benefactor donations placed in the CSSDAR Reserve Replacement Fund. The Reserve Replacement Fund was set up in the Branca Administration to help take care of major capital improvements and other large emergencies at headquarters. As you read more about Phase 2 on the Headquarters Preservation web page, you will see why the Reserve Replacement Fund needs your contributions.

The State Society is seeking donations from chapters and individuals. Donors will be given an opportunity to take part in a donor wall recognition that will be placed on the property after both phases of the preservation are completed.

Preservation Project Benefactors will be recognized at these levels of contribution:

Canyon Oak Level – $1,000-$4,999
Coastal Oak Level – $5,000 – $9,999
Valley Oak Level – $10,000 – $19,999
Cathedral Oak Level – $20,000 and up

Contributions will be accepted from members, chapters, DAR clubs, and even non-members. Due to space limitations on the planned donor wall, only the names of donors and the donation level will be listed.  If you wish to make a contribution in memory of a loved one, please remember to fill out the CSSDAR Honorarium/Memoriam Form so your donation can be included in the State Chaplain’s Book of Loving Remembrance. The CSSDAR HQ Preservation Project Donation Form will be available soon on the CSSDAR Members’ Website under the “Documents and Forms” link on the left side navigation bar. Click on the form under “State Society” forms.

We are pleased to announce that our first member benefactor is Pam Meyers of Chatsworth Chapter. She has generously donated the sum of $2,500 to cover the cost of manufacturing a copper flower box liner. Thank you, Pam! More information about this donation is included on the new web page.

Thank you to everyone who has inquired about making a donation. Your generosity is greatly needed and appreciated!
