Welcoming Honor Flight San Diego

John Cahoon, WWII US Navy veteran and husband of Linares Chapter member, Paula-Jo, went on a whirlwind trip to Washington, DC, on Honor Flight San Diego. Mail call on the plane found John with so many cards and letters that he couldn’t read them all. Thanks to Paula-Jo’s son, Dan Cahoon, he received one from George H.W. Bush and a book of letters from a 7th grade class in Atlanta, GA; cards and pictures came in from Utah and Idaho; cards from friends and many District XIV Daughters were in the mail bag. Linares Chapter Regent Lillian Leslie, chapter member Jennifer Smith, Santa Margarita Chapter Regent and associate member of Linares Wanda Prosser, along with their spouses, accompanied Paula-Jo to San Diego’s Lindbergh Field to welcome home John and eighty other WWII veterans. A real American welcome and thank you, from around one thousand military and civilian patriots, lined up past three baggage claim areas to shout, cry and clap.
