Josefa Higuera Livermore Presents American History Awards

On February 2, 2013, the members of the Josefa Higuera Livermore Chapter were privileged to welcome to their annual awards ceremony the winners and their families for the American History Essay Contest.  Chapter Chairman Kim Salch was unable to attend the awards ceremony, due to a previous commitment, but Barbara Wills, a former chapter chairman, presented them in her place.  All first place winners received $100.00, and each of their teachers received $50.00.

The winners were, 5th grade, Lailani Bumanlag; 6th grade, Connor Livingston (Connor pursued the contest without any teacher help); and 7th grade, Kendall Hefner. The 8th grade winner was Anchal Sinha, who also won the District IV contest for his level. Anchal’s brother was also the 8th grade chapter winner last year for his essay.

Refreshments were held afterwards where chapter members were able to talk with the young students.  The essays were well written and a joy to listen to as they were read by each of the students.
