Chapter Chatter: Santa Margarita Chapter Presents DAR Community Service Award

Alida Woodward, regent and Charla Boodry, 1st vice regent, of the Santa Margarita Chapter, presented the DAR Community Service Award to Angela Kennedy Perez. Mrs. Perez is an R.N. by profession but her volunteer works are far-reaching. She is a voice in advocacy work at the state and national levels and recently was part of a delegation to Washington DC to speak about mental health issues of veterans. She volunteers medical services at local fund raising marathons to help the less fortunate, homeless shelters, children’s programs with incarcerated parents and sober living homes. The chapter was honored to have in attendance for this presentation Jennifer Smith, DAR National vice chair SW Region and Wendy Malone, CA DAR State Chair for Community Service. Mrs. Perez attended Vista High School, married her high school sweetheart and raised her family in the area.
