El Dorado Chapter Program Chair Virginia DeGregory, arranged for El Dorado County Sheriff, John D’Agostini, to speak to us for our May program.  The Sheriff brought with him Chris Stelz, Detective in charge of the El Dorado County Gang Unit.  Sheriff D’Agostini reported on the “State of the County” and Chris spoke about any gang influence here in El Dorado County.  We were encouraged that our county law enforcement is keeping us safe.  We all wished we had additional time to ask more one-on-one questions of the Sheriff and Detective.

The Sheriff informed us that the reality show, “Sheriffs of El Dorado County” will go national in the fall. I know, a personal favorite of this author.  He also shared with us a program the county offers, Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy, a 14 week class which citizens can become more familiar with the many different aspects of law enforcement culminating in a ride along with an officer.
