Chapter Chatter: Santa Anita Celebrates 65 Year Chapter Anniversary

Santa Anita NovemberOn Saturday, October 31, the Santa Anita Chapter joined with the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage in celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the NSDAR and the 65th Anniversary of our Chapter in the City of Arcadia.  We re-introduced ourselves and our work to the City through a museum exhibit highlighting the history of both the National and local organizations.

Our opening reception program, hosted by Santa Anita Chapter Treasurer, Norma Finch, featured California State Regent Carol Jackson with latest news from State Headquarters, Arcadia City Clerk Gene Glasco presented a proclamation from Mayor Gary Kovacic honoring our important milestones and chapter member Mary Ann Williams talked about our history in Arcadia.

We were delighted to have the Los Angeles Fifes and Drums perform martial music of the Revolutionary War for us in their authentic New Jersey Militia uniforms. The patriotic theme was carried through in the red, white and blue table decorations and the beautiful anniversary cake and “candy bar”.  Many of our members enjoyed the opportunity to proudly wear their Revolutionary era finery.  Our exhibit will remain on display through the end of December.
