District XIV Daughters, led by Director Jeanette Shiel, did an amazing job last month supporting breast cancer research in San Diego County. Early in the month, Celebrate America Chair Jennifer Smith hosted a crafting party to create the 2,500 DAR pink ribbons that were presented to the hundreds of walkers. And on November 22, District XIV Daughters staffed a DAR refresh table and cheered on Susan G. Komen 3-Day walkers, including our own Christine McMahan, La Jolla Chapter Regent, who walked the 60 miles and raised over $2,300 for breast cancer research.

Walkers enjoyed California oranges, pink jelly beans, and refilled their water containers. It was a great day at the beach, providing community service for a vital women’s issue.  Daughters from seven District XIV chapters and one District XII chapter including De Anza, Katuktu, La Jolla, Letitia Coxe Shelby, Linares, Rancho Buena Vista, Rincon del Diablo and Santa Margarita Chapters came together to promote breast cancer awareness. District XIV extends special thanks to NSDAR Corresponding Secretary General, Karon Kading Jarrard, CSSDAR Registrar, Joan Bogaty, and CSSDAR Corresponding Secretary Adele Lancaster who joined in support of this wonderful event.  Thanks to fantastic participation, District XIV looks forward to supporting and celebrating the 3-Day again next year!
