Be Wise, Focus on the Future with Education

“Whooo Gives a Hoot about Education?  DAR Gives a Hoot!” What a great theme for the DAR School Committee as the new administration continues the commitment to patriotic education for the students at our six DAR supported schools.  Chapters are encouraged to have “wise” fundraisers that will help aid all schools.

Some of the ways you can promote the DAR Schools are:

  • Educate, encourage, participate, and donate to our DAR approved schools
  • Plan a program on DAR schools
  • Participate by sending labels, box tops, and thrift items directly to participating schools
  • Individual and chapter donations of $200 to the Friends of DAR Schools Fund are encouraged. This enables you to purchase the “Friends of DAR Schools” pin to wear on your official DAR ribbon. Use form DEV-1003 to make this contribution.
  • While attending Continental Congress in June, attend the DAR School Supper, the DAR School Forum, as well as the business session during which the DAR Schools Committee report is given.  Each school will report to Congress at that time.
  • Acquire and wear the Three Wise Owls pin.  This pin will be available for sale at the California State Conference.  Hopefully we will receive some before then. They are so popular, NSDAR sold out! Watch for notification that they have arrived and how to order them.  All funds from this project will be allocated to special projects identified at the six approved schools.

Education is vital across this country and chapters  are encouraged to participate in supporting the DAR Schools as well as local schools by promoting literacy, history, citizenship, and education.

Additional information about each school can be found on the DAR Members’ website, the National Information Packet (NIP Part 1, p. 25), and the DAR Handbook.  If you have any questions concerning the DAR Schools, please contact the state chair.
