Linares Celebrates Mothers and Daughters

Chapter Regent Lillian Leslie hosted a “Mothers and Daughters” celebration at our May 2nd meeting.  Helen Thompson’s daughter Juanita, received a prize for traveling the greatest distance from Vassar, MI, and her daughter Belva attended from Hemet. Each mother and daughter received a bouquet of flowers, and flower seeds were given to each to grow. Members brought mementos from their mothers and pictures; some ladies were wearing jewelry that belonged to their moms; and  member Jerry Willoughby shared a painting of white Orchids by NSDAR founding daughter Caroline Harrison. The buffet luncheon was attended by nearly 60 people, and guest speaker Teri Reese, who served in the Navy as the first female deep sea diver and also as a member of California Highway Patrol, spoke of her experiences and helping women survive in today’s environment. Project Patriot State Chairman Kristin Wood, District XIV Director Beverlee Stuart-Borok, and Leslie Granger from “Honor Flight” were also in attendance.
