Chapter Chatter: El Redondo Chapter Honored to Hear Colonel Becky M. Beers

The El Redondo Chapter was honored and excited to have Colonel Becky M. Beers, Commander, 61st Air Base Group, Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, California as our September 12, 2020 meeting speaker. Colonel Beers grew up in Los Angeles, attended the University of Southern California, receiving her commission from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. Col. Beers enthusiastically accepted our invitation to speak at our meeting. She is a strong advocate of mentoring. Since assuming command of the 61st Air Base Group in July of 2020, she has already reached out to local JROTC groups.

Col. Beers spoke about her experiences growing up in Los Angeles, learning English as a second language, and having a loving mother and grandmother as role models. She discussed her current responsibilities with the 61st Air Base Group, her ‘words to live by’ that have helped her though some challenging times, the importance of female mentors in her life, and the amazing love and support throughout her career from her husband and twin sons.
