Chapter Chatter: Arcalanes Chapter Honors Orinda Fire Department

As fires are raging up and down California, it is certainly a sad time for many people; just look at the news. DAR Acalanes Chapter would like to share a positive story.

On Sunday August 16, 2020, at 4 in the morning, unusually high winds broke a large tree branch which fell on a power line sparking a fire. The continued high winds combined with the unusually dry conditions and hot weather fanned into a large fire within 10 minutes threatening several nearby homes. The Orinda Fire station came to the rescue and put out the fire. We rarely hear about the success stories and this is one! This is what our Orinda Fire Station does routinely without community knowledge.

We are grateful to the Orinda Fire Department! On August 20th, the Daughters of American Revolution, Acalanes Chapter, presented our community fire fighters who saved those homes with a certificate of appreciation and a gift certificate for the station for a very well deserved dinner.
