Announcement: May Council Meetings – Meet the Officers-Elect

South
The end of March had become “decision day” and when the President extended the social distancing guidelines out to April 30, 2020, we knew the decision… at least for the May 2, 2020, Southern Council… had been made.

The Meet the Officers-Elect Council Meeting originally scheduled for May 2, 2020, at Avenue of the Arts in Costa Mesa, has been canceled.

The State Regent and State Regent-Elect are working on several options to still meet the agenda items of the meeting. District boards in the south will be installed during the Backyard Barbecue. (Your State Regent is determined that the world will be right, people will be encouraged to resume normal activities, and that we will be able to have a grand party in Glendora!) Too, we are talking about several ways the Broderick Administration goals and projects can be shared with members. More, when we have something definitive.

North
Within the next 10-14 days, we will make a decision on the Council meeting in the north, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at the Sheraton in Sacramento. We are hoping that the news will be such that Californians will be encouraged to return to their normal activities in early May, and that we could have a very quick turn-around time for reservations if news from the Governor’s office is positive in this regard. The hotel is being very cooperative; wants to work with us; and totally understands our situation. If we need to cancel, we will share Plan B in order to see that the agenda in the north is also covered. Stay tuned.

The sooner we are together again… hopefully, in mid-May in Sacramento and again at HQ in June… the better it will be. Many of you have found ways to serve from home or are in critical care situations where you are needed “on the front lines.” More are reaching out to others in your chapters and Daughters/friends near and far through your phone calls, email messages, Facebook and written notes. This communication is certainly helping to put aside our feelings of isolation. But, we are missing our opportunities to be together. We are missing our opportunities to be serving and doing… together. Let us pray we will be together – in person as well as spirit – soon.

Your patience, understanding, and encouragement are so appreciated!
