Chapter Chatter: El Redondo Chapter’s 55th Annual Colonial Luncheon

On March 7, 2020, about 100 chapter members and guests enjoyed the 55th Colonial Luncheon at scenic Los Verdes Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. Attendees arrived up to an hour before the luncheon in order to explore the many tables of donated gift displays for the silent auction and items to be raffled. The proceeds raised from the luncheon with its community and member support provide the funds for our scholarship program.

Regent Pat Husain introduced the Mistress of Ceremonies Carolyn Bushnell, Nat’l Vice Chair of DAR Scholarships. Chapter Chaplain Sue Ann Harding gave the benediction and Harbor SAR member Jamie Bellows led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. MC Bushnell introduced distinguished guests including Adele Lancaster, Regent CSSDAR; Linda Bartolf, Sec.CSSDAR; Lillian Leslie, Rec. Sec. CSSDAR; Kristin Wood, Corr. Sec. CSSDAR; Nancy Guenther, Natr’l Vice Chair of SW Region DAR Project Patriot.

An emotional introduction was given to CWO Keith Willoughby who will be retiring this year as leader of the Redondo Union MCJROTC. Chief Willoughby, also emotional, introduced his cadets who provided the Color Guard and also assisted with prize distribution. While guests enjoyed the lunch, a delightful music program was provided by “The Segundo Saxes,” a saxophone quartet. The program concluded with prize distribution followed by the benediction.
