Chapter Chatter: Mojave Chapter Celebrates 95th Anniversary

In February Mojave Daughters and guests gathered at the Alta Vista Country Club to celebrate the chapter’s 95th Anniversary. This wonderful celebration began with a presentation of the colors by Lee’s Legion, which is comprised of North Orange County SAR members in the uniform of the Colonial Continental Army. Fullerton Mayor Jennifer Fitzgerald presented a certificate of congratulations to the Chapter and State Regent Adele Lancaster brought greetings.

All enjoyed a fabulous champagne brunch accompanied by beautiful harp music played by Ellie Choate, who was sponsored by Mojave Daughter Mary Jo Vincent. Following the meal, Koa Kretchmer, Outreach Coordinator from the Gary Sinise Foundation, shared compelling stories of the wounded warriors who have been assisted by this organization. The Foundation is the current CSSDAR State Regent’s Project with a $25,000 donation made by California Daughters last December.  An additional donation will be given at the State Conference in March. The donations from California Daughters go specifically to outfit the kitchens of homes for our most severely injured military heroes.

Special thanks to the 95th Anniversary Committee members: Judith Baxter, Robin Chimino, Sara Clark, Dory Fisher, Joy Gage, Virginia Hughes, Doe Jones, Sharon Kaplan, Stacey McCoy, Laura Steele, Kay Street, Hilary White, and Diane Witmer. These Daughters devoted themselves to making this celebration a memorable day.

Susan Broderick, CSSDAR State Vice-Regent commented, “Congratulations Mojave Chapter on such a wonderful event! So happy to be there, celebrating with you all! A beautiful day celebrating commitment, membership and most of all, long-time friendships!”

Mojave Chapter now looks forward to celebrating 100 years in 2025!
